Screwdrivers (flat head and Phillips)

Adjustable wrench

Tools You May Need:

Ladder (depending on where you'll hang the chandelier)

Pencil (for marking)

Pliers

Difficulty level 2 of 5 (it'd be a good idea to have an extra set of hands ready to help)

Steps to installing your chandelier

Step 1: Cut The Power

Cut the electrical power to the circuit.

Step 2: Attach The Light

Using the screws that come with your chandelier, attach your light to the junction box. Be sure the junction box can bear the weight of your new fixture. The heavier your chandelier is, the stronger your junction box will need to be. So if you're installing a heavier fixture, you might need a crossbar to reinforce your junction box.

Step 3: Match The Wires

Take the white wire from the junction box and the white wire of the fixture and twist the bare ends together. Do this for both the black and the green wires and don't forget your wire huts.

Step 4: Attach The Canopy

If your light comes with it, slide the ceiling cap into place, and tighten any screws it might require.

Step 5: Screw In The Bulbs

Some chandelier manufacturers supply the bulbs that go with the fixture. Other times you'll have to buy the bulbs separately. Either way, do your best not to handle the glass with your fingers, as oil and dirt may render the bulbs useless. A good trick is to hold the foam or cushioning material while you're putting the bulb in.

Step 6: Attach Shades

Your chandelier 's shades might be totally unique, and so will their facility technique. So be sure you check the light's facility instructions for specific details.
